Seconds is now live
Hello, I could really use your help.
It’s Julien. For about a year now, I’ve been working part-time on my app, Seconds. Thanks to the ideas, comments, and perspectives many of you shared with me, which helped me find ways to set the app apart from its competitors, I think I’ve reached a solid starting point to launch the platform.
The vision behind Seconds rests on two ideas.
First, I believe the second-hand selling experience can become much more interactive than it is today. Apps like Uber, Skip, and Lyft use geolocation, maps, and user reviews to create trust signals that people already understand.
Established platforms like Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace have some of these elements, but geolocation is not really brought forward as proof of proximity, as a sign that products are actually available nearby, or as a central part of the buying and selling experience.
Second, if the app starts being used, even modestly, Seconds can become a local alternative, built here, for us. A platform that lets people do the same things they already do on other apps, while supporting local consumption all the way down to the choice of platform itself.
Thanks for taking the time to read this message,
Julien
